Bills Beach Bar voted a great regatta venue

Bills Beach Bar just south of Lamai proved the winning venue for the August regatta which attracted visitors from as far away as Hong Kong, Singapore and Phuket.

John Hamilton (Handsome John), from Phuket took the role as Race Officer, setting a passage course on Saturday and an Olympic course on Sunday, with competitors enjoying great winds on both days.

After Saturdays racing the social conditions proved perfect with free food and beer and plenty of locals dropping in to enjoy the fun.

This regatta saw the first of our mermaid of the month competition with Paywah from Cambodia voted the winner despite dubious comments about improvements by Doctor Silicon.

After the racing on Sunday, the party kicked on until midnight and extra food was kindly donated by one of the locals, Khun Bill from Yorkshire.
